Comment: Alan! Thank you so much for the gorgeous card and the wonderful extras; I love them. Talk about being grateful! So kind and generous, thank you. I hope you're having a wonderful day full of hummingbird visitors and kitty snoring. βRaynor
Comment: I love the Halloween card! Thank you so much! The book recommendation sounds great, too, and I will add it to my list. I am not reading anything scary at the moment. I just finished my Goodreads reading challenge with The Fortunate Ones. I may pick up a spooky book next. Happy swapping!
Comment: Hi Alan, I got your notecard on a dismal day and it made me very happy. I love Ursula K le Guin and to find her in your card was amazing. I have not heard about the other author. I think we get a certain perspective when we revisit a childhood story that we once read. I hope you are having a great time. Thank you for your card.
Comment: Thank you so much for your nice card and stickers. You have a way of writing that makes me feel like I was there. I love watching the cooking shows, too. My grandkids have fun doing their own 'Chopped' competitions and their creations do represent their personalities. Thank you for making my day so much brighter!
Comment: I adore the envelope. The note was good too but the envie was so cute. I bet every mailman on the way admired it, Love the back and your drawings. Very imaginative! Wish i could give 10 hearts!
Comment: Love the Bee card and the Unicorn mini-card extra, Thank You. I very much enjoyed reading about your weekend! ha... book recommendations with your Grandma, that's awesome! And Potato Curry and Bee watching at your friend's home, sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing!
Comment: Thanks for the ugly postcard. Love the happy stickers! Fungi are fascinating. The only thing interesting I've seen this summer are cicadas, lots of cicadas and lots of cicada shells. They fall out of the trees onto your head!
Comment: Sounds like it was a lovely week! I would totally be excited about carpet cleaning, myself. Celebrate the small stuff, I say! Thanks for the beautiful card and sunglasses sticker(!) I have only heard of Nanaimo because of nanaimo bars, which I have not tried yet but is on my list. Have fun and enjoy your lemony carpets! :):)
Comment: Lovely postcard-the picture is beautiful. I did a double take on the poem because I instantly thought of the season as I read the title. It was a simply beautiful poem. I am going to look up more by Catherine Carter.
Comment: Your hometown looks and sounds wonderful! I understand the heatwave thing... here in Florida, that would be like us getting your Canadian winter weather. I love the sound of the ornament you are making for your aunt - she will love it! Right now, I'm just working on ATCs and other swaps.
The recipe you sent, Nanaimo Bars, must be delicious! Not sure I can find custard powder here... but I will try. Have you ever made Millionaire's Shortbread Bars? My recipe is from YouTube,, but there are a lot out there.. make sure to get one that uses sweetened condensed milk for the caramel layer.. The two are similar recipes, but the bottom layer of this one is shortbread... the middle, homemade soft caramel. You should try baking some of those sometime!!
Thanks for the lovely note and the brilliant recipe π
Cheers! Hope we swap again soon!
Comment: Thank you so much for all the wonderful items you sent. I've never read any of the mystery books from the post cards. But I love them and will need to look into them. I also love the postcards from your home town.
I'm currently reading The Turn of The Key by Ruth Ware.
The little cards are adorable and I'll be sharing one with a friend who I know will love it as much as I do.
Again, thank you so much for all the lovely items. I'm going to add your hometown postcard to my wall. π
Comment: Thank you for the great card! I've been reading the Anne of Green Gables books, Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the Little House books lately. Happy swapping!
Comment: Hello Alan! Thank you very much for the cool literary postcard! Also - I love the unicorn sticker, unicorns make everything better β₯
The flooding was mostly in the west of Germany, in the south we kept dry (luckily) but the situation there is really severe :( thank you for asking!
I wish you a glorious day! - Vanessa
Comment: Thank you so much! We have also had record high temps here...for a few weeks! Starting to cool down a bit, thankfully. Our tomatoes and squash survived, too!
Comment: Loved loved reading about your weekend. When u wrote this on july 18 in 2008 I lost my firstborn after an hour and a half after he was born. Reading. Your letter made me happy. Thank you
Comment: Thanks for the fun swap, I have to admit these types aren't my favorite either. But they are much more fun to get in this scenario! Iβm learning French, so all the books I'm reading are either comics or kids books in French language to help me learn. Lol
Iβll be glad for your suggestions once I resume my typical reading. Thanks again & best wishes to you.
Comment: Gorgeous collage on the envelope! I havenβt read any of the books you mentioned yet, but have been reading a series that nods to fairytales by Katherine MacDonald. Hope you are safe from the fires up there!
Comment: Thanks Alan! I love the card. Tiny cards are the best. And the stickers and PC are awesome too. So I know of Vancouver Island? I lived there for 2 years in the early 2000βs. I worked in Operations for the New VI. The short lived Chum station. I left and moved back to Whistler before it folded.
Iβm from Toronto, but lived 13 years in BC.
Thanks again,
Jenny
Comment: Thank you, Alan, for the postcard. And yay kingfisher sighting. Total props to you too for making chicken pot pie from scratch. I'll be honest and I admit I buy mine premade from a local butcher. I'm just not that patient in the kitchen, even if you tell me all the science bits to figuring out how to make food halfway decent and not burnt. Hahaha... How did it end up tasting? <3
Comment: Thanks for the postcard! I love Murderbot (although I'm a bit behind - I see there's a new novella out) - I'll have to check out those other authors.
Comment: Thank you for the very pretty postcard and nice note. Lucky you, finding a full book of unused postcards! I used to do cross stitch also, it was very relaxing.
So glad to meet nice folks here. :)
Comment: Thank you for the great postcard and especially for the book recommendations! I'm doing the Book Riot Read Harder challenge, so right now I'm reading a biography of the Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie by Asfa-Wossen Asserate. I'm enjoying it so far.
Comment: Thank you so much for your great postcard showing First Nations style art. It's a perfect choice for me:-) And I also like your decorations and postage stamps very much. Wishing you a great springtime and Happy Easter, too:-)
Comment: Love the art pc, and oh my gosh, that woodland animal postal stamp is awesome!! Thank you so much! I am currently reading Erosion, Essays of Undoing... Her writing is a little bit too poetic for me, but excellent topics and themes. Thank you for your book recommendation!
Comment: Thank you so much for the As You Like it Card, and the pretty stamps! I didn't hear about the equalizer remake! I hope it's good! :) I like Last Holiday... LL Cool J (insert heart eye emojis LOL). Hope your sweet cuddly cat is keeping you warm! :)
Comment: LOVE the postcard ! The colours are wonderful and I love how it is matte to the touch. Book sounds interesting - I have been meaning to read Room by her...its on my long list of books TBR lol
I have read the first 5 Gamache books but have been hording and slowly reading them in between other books because I love them so much and want to savour the experience. I love reading them in Winter especially cos they just make me feel so cozy (in a murderous kinda way lol) Thanks so much for the PC...made my day :-)
