Comment: Your swap arrived! Yay!! Hey, it's something to celebrate in these questionable mailing days. :) I LOVE "The Haunting of Hill House"! It is one of my top 5 favorite books, without a doubt. I've read, re-read, listened and watched everything to do with it and don't have it memorized YET, but I'm getting there. :) The Netflix adaptation of the story isn't bad, really, it's kind of a combination of the book and the 2 movies made of the book, and when seen from that angle, it isn't bad at all. If you haven't seen the other 2 movies (one in the 1960's that is all black and white with no special effects at all - and scares the socks off of me!!!) and the 1999 version with Liam Nieson and Catherine Zeda Jones, I highly recommend them. Shirley Jackson was a master and didn't get the attention she deserved when she was alive, but people are starting to appreciate her work now. There's another of her books, "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" that was recently made into a Netflix movie and it's not too bad, either. Anyway, I could go on for DAYS about Jackson's work. :) I'm glad you liked the book. I also liked the way Elanor was described, she seemed to be a real person by the end. (Oh, one more fun fact - Hill House is one of Stephen King's favorite books, too - he was asked to write a screen adaptation in the 1990's, but the project was scrapped. He took his manuscript and developed it into Rose Red, which was a made for TV movie here in the US. If you can find it... IT's SOOOO good!!! He then wrote a prequel, The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer, which is amazing as well.) I'm a 'slight' fan, as you can see ... :) Thanks for sharing your books! :)
