Comment: Hi! I haven't received a card, but you're a good swapper, and I see you've been rated for other cards sent for this swap. So, I'm just chalking it up to lost in the mail. No resend needed. Happy New Year!
Comment: Warm Winter Greetings,
Thank you for the Christmas card, and the note papers. Cute envie and antique postage stamps.
I've been away from home since after Thanksgiving & it was like Christmas morning when I opened all my swaps since then.
a very Happy New Year to you!
Comment: Hi Jessica,
Thank you so much for the vintage scene of Christmas in a village. This is yet another great postcard that I received as part of this series of postcards. Your message was also a very nice message for a Christmas postcard. I also loved the use of old Christmas stamps, nice addition.
I hope that we meet again along the Swap-bot trail. Until we meet along the Swap-bot trail, Happy Swapping!
Response: I'm so glad you appreciated everything! Happy swapping and Merry Christmas!
Comment: I love love love the vintage stamps! I too try to match my stamps to what I am sending and you did such a great job, I am keeping these! I love the card too, its classy! Reminds me of Idaho! Merry Christmas!
Response: I save all the Christmas stamps I get throughout the year just to use them on the Christmas card swaps in December. I'm glad you appreciate it!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful Christmas card and your 'cheesy poem'. You made me chuckle! I keep thinking that Thanksgiving is already over, especially since Starbucks by passed the Spiced Pumpkin Latte and have the Peppermint Mocha out already. Take care!
Response: Oh wow! I can't believe they skipped out on anything pumpkin spice. I do keep forgetting that Thanksgiving isn't here yet as well. You're welcome for the card and poem. Stay safe
Comment: Sorry for the late rating!! Thank you so much!! I love the blue and the snowman. And that snowflake in the corner of the ATC is a nice touch! Thank you so much too for the extras (you sent die cuts in a nice envie, thanks!!!!)
Comment: I have had a PC for this swap in my in box to rate for some time. There is no name or return address. By process of elimination, as far as I can tell, it would have to be from you, as you are the only one left to be rated for this swap. Thank you for the pretty PC. Have a great day and happy swapping!
Comment: Fun postcard (and I love that there's a recipe on the back too) and good answers! I think I also said that I wouldn't want to find cockroaches in the house. (Honestly, who would? lol) Stay safe and be well!
Response: 🤣 you're right! I can't imagine anyone would. You stay safe and well also!
Comment: Hi Jessica! Love the flower washi pc and the stamps you used! Thanks so much for reading my profile to see I love flowers! Wishing you all the best and please stay safe! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Wow! Thank you so much for all these cards! I am going to have fun going through all of them. Thank you for including some Michigan ones! I collect those. Thank you so very much I really am glad we were able to swap :D
Response: I'm so happy that it made it to you safely and that you're going to have fun going through them. I always enjoy getting a new giant box of postcards and just sorting through. If you're ever up for another swap in the future I'm sure I'll have some more since I buy in bulk. It was good swapping with you!
Comment: Thank you so much for the beautiful PC from Devon, England. It is beautiful! I appreciate you letting it go so that you could send it to me. I also love that you sent me an old Nevada postage stamp. All the stamps looked so cool. Where do you buy your old postage stamps?? I was looking all over and sadly you have to pay like 3 and 4 times the face value for the stamps that are around 10 or 20 years old.
Comment: Hi Jessica! I got your card and I loved the quote, the picture and the info about the picture. I enjoyed reading the history of it. I looked it up and read about the artist, the person who it was given to as well as the giver. Thank you for that bit of history. Take care and be well!
Response: I love when someone sends something that makes me curious enough to do some research. I'm so glad I was able to do that for you. I'm happy you enjoyed everything!
Comment: Man I love old Post cards! And such a cool stamp! Oregon is taking about being closed into July! They already cancelled fourth of July! I think they're overreacting. Glad to hear your slowly getting back to normal
Response: Oh wow! July feels so far away, but things are already being canceled for it, crazy. I hope we do something here. We will see I guess. I'm glad you liked the vintage postcard and stamps!
Comment: Thank you for the Manatee PC. When I visited my brother in Tarpon Springs, FL a few years ago, we were told the Manatees sometimes came in from the ocean, but we never saw one, sadly. I would love to see one in person, I don't think I've even seen one at a zoo before! I hope you are well, take care! PS - love the "old" stamps!
Response: There is a small theme park here in Florida that has them on display, but here in Jacksonville if you are lucky you can see them in the St Johns River. Glad you love the stamps!
Comment: Hi Jessica! How's everything thing there? Better than here I hope. Pennsylvania made 4th place on the Covid19 confirmed list. How awful and so scary! Anyway, Thank you for the beautiful Thailand Pc! I wish I there right now. But heard the Oceans are carrying the virus. So sad!
Response: I actually don't keep track with the news where we are doing as a state, but for within my sphere personally we're doing fine. You're welcome for the card!
Comment: I love vintage postcards and stamps! I have a stash of postcards from little motels where we would stay on vacations in the early 60s. My family loved to drive and I would take a postcard from every place we slept.
Response: Oh wow that's really nice! I love having little memoirs I can flip through every couple years and remember.
Comment: I really loved the PC. I use to race lasers in high school competitively, women’s nationals and even had a sponsor for a shot at the Olympics but got injured before that came around. Put a big smile on my face thank you!!
Response: Oh wow, that's awesome! I'm so glad I could find a postcard that really hit home.
Comment: Thank you for the cute ice cream cone... man, I miss ice cream! I hope you are well, safe, healthy and happy. Take care and have a groovy day! <3
Response: I don't know if I could deprive myself of ever having ice cream. Life is way too short for that. There are some pretty nice alternatives for those who are lactose intolerant nowadays. So even if it was a dairy issue, at least I could still fake it.🤣
Comment: The King's Speech is on my list too, but none of your others were. Interesting card, too. Thanks.
Response: I actually have already seen The King's Speech. I just liked it so much I put it back on my list. The others have been on my list for a while, because I'm not as interested to watch them. But, they are technically on my list.
Comment: I'm going to call you awesome stamp lady. I don't know where you found a stash of such cool old stamps, but it's the same as the last PC! 💖
Response: Hahaha... my first-ever stash of vintage stamps was from the Postal stamp expo in New York. I was sad to hear that the stamp shows in my state are canceled for the next couple of months because of this whole virus situation. I'll be happy once they start back up so I can visit and pick up some more stamps.
Comment: Received your Providence, R.I. PC today with fantastic answers. Thank you much! Would you really want to visit Pennsylvania one day? What part of it, just out of curiosity?
Response: Absolutely! I hope to do a road trip where I can visit all 48 contiguous states at once. I don't have a particular part in mind. But, I do plan on researching each state to find some interesting places to visit. Usually when I go to a new state or country I like to visit the capitol, so definitely the capitol and if there are any botanical gardens I love to visit those. I like factories that give tours and free samples. Also, any kind of natural phenomenons. If you have any suggestions let me know.
Comment: Jessica, thank you for wonderful PC! You are so lucky to have been in Thailand so recently. I visited there in about 1993. I would love to go back! Thank you for parting with that wonderful PC. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Response: I did not get a chance to visit any of the islands. So it would definitely be worth a trip back. I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. You're welcome for the card!
Comment: Ha, I had to laugh at the alligator on a leash. It makes me think of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, who died too young, but at least he died doing what he loved. I hope you are well, take care! <3
Response: Aww, haha! I'm glad I could at least bring a smile to your face.
Comment: I have several cards of St Augustine lighthouse. Beautiful. I even have a vintage one. Thanks.
Response: Oooh nice! I just picked these up on my last trip there. I was there to celebrate my friend's birthday. I didn't go to the lighthouse, but most of the restaurants and shops sell these postcards.
Comment: Thank you for the card and the Women's history month facts, I did not know or realize that women had created such things. I hope you are well - thanks also for the awesome vintage stamps - I LOVE Them!!
Response: You are so very welcome! I love looking up all these interesting facts, because I not only get to share them, but I learn so much myself. Glad you love the stamps. I love vintage stamps as well.
Comment: I loved this PC!! It looks almost authentically vintage to me, which I LOVE. And thank you for the woman’s History Mon facts. I am just so saddened, however, that there is no longer a female running for president to make this election a HERstory :( :( :(
Thanks again! Your friend,
Hilary (Harley) <3
Response: I'm so glad that you love the card. It actually is authentic vintage. I have a collection of vintage postcards and I try to send them out as often as I can. I had actually been holding on to that one for a while because I really liked it and I try to keep the Florida ones. But, based on your profile I thought you would enjoy it. 🙂 I've got to believe that one day it will happen. I hope I'm alive to see it.
Comment: Thank you the Amish crossing over a covered bridge PC and you're interesting facts about women's history. We have Amish all over the place here. Some don't live far from us either & see them pass by almost every day. They are very nice people.
Response: Oh wow, that is pretty cool. I've actually never come across any. I've only seen them in movies.😁 you're welcome
Comment: You so totally rock!!! Thank you for sending me this cool tree postcard using vintagey postage stamps! How creative to think of writing an interesting factoid about Black History Month on the back too! I love it!
Response: 🥰 Thank you! I'm so happy that you appreciate everything!
Comment: Jessica, You ROCK! I just love my ATC & cant wait to color it in, such fun to be had. Many thanks for drawing it out. OMG, just love all the extra postal stamps, yippee. Have a wonderful day today. AnnaL.
Response: Thank you! I'd love to see what it looks like once you're done. I actually hadn't even thought about coloring it in. I'm kind of obsessed with black and white outline drawings. 😆
Comment: Hi Jessica! Loved the St. Augustine pc and hope to visit there someday - on my Bucket List! I was going to use a FL pc and then heard it was cold there and the iguanas were falling out of trees due to the cold! Crazy weather! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Glad you liked the postcard. It's actually been very lovely where I am. We had 2 really cold days a couple of weeks ago, but other than that the weather has been nice and I've heard it will get up to the 80s this week. I highly recommend St. Augustine. There is a lovely bit of history and a very comfortable vibe to the city. 🙂
Comment: I love these so much! Wow! I like all the different elements and this quote from Ingrid Bergman is awesome :):):) Great, lovely artwork :):):) Thank you also for the extras and this awesome handmade envie too. I absolutely love it with the water bottle. :):):)
Response: Aw, thank you! I really enjoyed making those stamps. So, I'm really happy to know that you appreciate it, along with all of the things I threw in.
Comment: I really liked the faux stamps. The envelope was opened on the side. So I'm not sure if I received everything. I did get the mini envelope inside with the stamps and postage stamps. Thanks for the sticky notes.
Response: Oh no! I'm so glad you got anything at all. I hope it was everything, but honestly I don't recall what I sent, because I join so many swaps at once. I'm happy you liked the stamps I made.
Comment: Thank you for sharing this vintage postcard of a cool tree in Napoli! I like some of the same movies that you do as well! The Joy Luck Club was watched regularly during my college years! ☺️ Great postage stamps too! Thank you! 😊
Response: You're welcome! I'm so glad you liked everything. Just making that list made me want to watch some movies I haven't seen in years.
Comment: Very creative ATCs, thanks for joining ! :D
Response: Thank you and you're welcome! As soon as I saw the swap, I knew I wanted to join and I knew exactly what I wanted my ATCs to look like. They came out mostly how I imagined 😆 But, as with most of the things I make I forgot to take a picture. I hope you enjoy them.
Comment: Thank you so much for the beautiful post card!!! I absolutely love that you shared a postcard you got when you traveled elsewhere... I travel vicariously through other people lol. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Response: Haha! You're welcome! The one thing I made sure to do while I was away was pick up postcards for swapping. I hope you had a merry Christmas!
Comment: Love the vintage rowing stamp. I rowed in college, so I always like that one. In other interesting news, they peeled a strip off the front of your chunk and printed the cancellation date there. It looks kinda neat.
Response: I'm so glad you liked the stamp! That is so odd. I've never heard of them doing anything like that. But, the post office is full surprised ha.
Comment: Thank you for the Eisenhower Center Chapel in Abilene, KS. I have never toured the Eisenhower Center but we did see one of the wax museums and gift shops there. And the Grayhound Hall of fame & Museum across the road.
Response: I've actually never been to Kansas, but plan to make a stop there one day. You're welcome!
Comment: What a gorgeous card! And I am crazy about the extras you sent. So looking forward to smashbooking and scrapbooking with my daughter this summer! Thank you :) I hope you do get to take an awesome vacation!
Response: I'm so glad you like it all! You're very welcome. Thanks
Comment: Oh my gosh, I think I would die if I had to be in that room - at the very least, my head would be spinning from red and gold overload! Thank you for the PC!
Response: Yeah, I can't even imagine. That room is kind of a little scary, ha! Maybe it's just because it's such an old photo and it's dark. I'm hoping it just doesn't do it justice and it's much better in person. :) Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Great List! Does the big green electrical box just feel like part of the landscape to you? We get used to stuff in time, right? Thank you for the list on a very cool vintage-y postcard with awesome stamps! Happy Mailing:)
Response: Yeah, I don't even really notice it until I come home and the neighborhood teenagers are sitting on it hanging out, ha! Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Thank you Jessica for the PC, loved the Helen Keller quote. You brightened my day. The lobster boat on the PC reminds me of trip I took with my Aunt & Uncle to Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, we bought, cooked & ate Lobsters.
Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it and that it brought back memories!
Comment: Nice PC! I wish I knew more about the vase in the PC. They should have included that info on the card. Not your fault of course. Happy swapping....We just had a snow storm. so much fun. not.
Response: You know, it is odd that they didn't have any information about the vase on the card, but I guess it all depends on the time and place where/when the card was made. Thank goodness I live in Florida, ha! I don't know that I could handle the type of cold that would cause a snow storm. Best of luck to you weathering the storms. :)
Comment: thanks for the pc ,sadly about a quarter of it was ripped off and gone!! :( but i like the quote and stamps :P
Response: I'm so disappointed in my post office. This is the fourth time this year so far that someone has said that their item was damaged in transit. I have to assume that there was a turnover of staff in my location. I apologize for that. :(
Comment: I love this postcard, you must have realized I'd love one from Maine? I've actually driven by the Wedding Cake house numerous times, but never had a photo of it! My daughter ran her first marathon in Kennebunk last summer, and I drove my grankids by this very cool house. They weren't as impressed as I am.....
Great Valentin-y words, too!
Response: Well, I did cheat and see that you said you lived in Maine for 30 years on your profile. :) I thought it would be great to combine the upcoming holiday with my vocab words. So glad you liked it!
Comment: Wow what a cute collection of valentines. My nephew loves the doggie tattoos
Response: Great! I actually passed some around my office at work on Valentine's Day and a couple of my guy co-workers put the tattoos on immediately, haha! I love it when we can be kids at work. It takes some of the pressure off.
Comment: Thank you Jessica for both of your postcards - for "M" Massachusetts, & "P" Peale, the famous American painter. I appreciated the quotes on both PCs. Interesting & different swap challenge for postcards.
Comment: Ah!! Thank you for such a fun package full of so much tea! I can't wait to start trying all the different kinds! Also... I can't get enough of all the fun stamps you used!!! You are so awesome, thank you so much!! :) 💛💛💛
Response: Yay! I'm so glad it made it's way to you all in tact. Sometimes I get a little concerned when I use so many stamps on one package, but it's too much of a blank canvas for me not to want to cover it in a variety of postage. I really hope you enjoy all of the tea! Thanks for the heart :)
Comment: You got a heart from me for the totally cool stamps!! OMG those rock!!!! Thank you for all the extras but those stamps really made my Valentine's special!!! Thank you so much!! <3<3<3
Response: I'm so glad you loved the stamps. I got pretty obsessed with finding cool stamps for a while when I first joined swap-bot. So, I spent a ridiculous amount on postage (not going to say how much), but it has actually lasted me through this last year and a half. So, I'm going to say, "worth it!"
Comment: Thank you. What does quote meantoyou? Card was damaged by postal service who stamped on picture name of town, date, and scribble mark. No one wants marks on picture side.
Response: Oh my! This is the third time in the past month or so where someone has mentioned that the post office damaged the postcard. I have no idea what is going on there. I wonder if they have new people working at my location. Sigh. I'm sorry about that.
Comment: Oh, gosh. I entered a big long comment and it looks like I forgot to save it. Your card had quite an adventure! It arrived in a USPS "sorry we wrecked your mail" bag. It was torn in half, and packing-taped back together. From your message I can tell that you had a picture stuck on top - well that's off somewhere with Amelia Earhart! It's just a Tanqueray ad, now. No worries - I love the wrecked cards. I also loved your vintage Skylab stamps. Space stamps are the best!
Response: Haha! Oh my! I've only gotten a sorry I wrecked your mail bag once. What an adventure! I'm glad that at least something made its way to you, ha!
Comment: Mailbox Greetings,
Thank you for the neat tree house PC. Who knew about such shelters. You can learn something new every day. Oh and a nice quote too. Thanx for being my partner.
Response: You're very welcome for everything! Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Thanks for the great PC of Boston. Food trucks are huge here in NYC, we even have an annual awards event for the best Food Trucks of the Year in several categories, There are a few that are so popular you can wait almost an hour on line to get your food,
Response: Oh my...an hour! People start to complain after fifteen minutes here, ha! I'm glad you liked the postcard.
Comment: got the cool old PC today...oh gosh yeah Valentines is coming up quickly! We even saw Easter stuff out already! crazy how hard they try to push the holidays on us. Next will be Christmas out in March haha :)
Response: I saw Easter things out already too last week and was shocked. You're right; it's just going to get sooner and sooner. Thanks for the heart!
Comment: That is exciting you are going to Thailand this year. So far we are only traveling within the US and possibly Canada for the next few years but eventually I would like to travel outside :)
Response: I actually haven't traveled much of the U.S. and have not been to Canada at all. I figured I might as well do the big ones while I have someone willing to go with me and then the ones closer to home when I need something a bit quicker or simpler. I hope you have fun in your travels.
Comment: Thanks for the PC of Holland. Sorry about your heaters. I hope it has warmed up by now. Our furnace exploded two weeks ago so we are just getting back into our house. What a mess. The cleaners did a pretty good job tho, and I didn't have to do the hard part. Now it's putting everything back.
Response: Oh my! I'm sorry to hear about your furnace. That's a pretty big ordeal to go through, especially during winter. I'm glad to hear that you are back in your house. Good luck in putting everything back together. It has warned up a good bit here. You're welcome for the postcard! Happy swapping!
Comment: They say you should throw a decent party when you turn 30, 40, 50, etc. I don't have enough friends to invite to a party but my friend has offered to invite a bunch of her friends and I can invite some people too obviously to her place since she is practically a pro at parties. I may invite some nearby family and friends, but I think I may do a bar thing with family the night before to separate fiestas. My good friend Claudia has helped me out more times than I can count so her offering to throw a party is awesome sauce.
Response: That's great that you have a friend willing to do that for you. It sounds like a lot of fun also!
Comment: Jessica, thank you for the wonderful postcard. I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season. We ended up having a little less typical holiday too, we celebrate on the 26th so that the whole family could be together. I love the feeling of the house being clean again but I always get a little sad once the holidays are over. I hope you are having a wonderful New Year full of happiness, great things and good health.
Response: Thank you! It did feel a bit abrupt when the holidays ended this time. It seemed like there was more holiday cheer to be had. The new year is treating me well so far. I wish the same for you.
Comment: I am so glad you sent me this postcard. My husband and I were having a conversation that was some how suitable as i casually went through my mail and came upon your card. The timing and topic of the conversation was perfect as i turned it to him and said, “like this?†And he almost choked on his own spit, laughed uncontrollably and then promptly sent a close up picture to his best friend via text. It’s definitely a favorite and going in my box of special, lewd mail I've received. Thank you so much!
Response: HAHA! That's pretty wonderful. I'm so glad that it worked out the way that it did. You are very welcome!
Comment: I was very confused at first, as it looked like you sent a card for a play or musical. I didn't remember signing up for that kind of swap. Then I saw your note about a waterfall photo. Looked again. No waterfall. Then I saw the swap name. Hmm. All of this was while walking back to the house from the mailbox. Once I got to the house I found the lose photo in my stack of mail. Puzzle solved! I have no idea when they got separated, but both pieces made it. I have trouble with glossy surfaces. I usually sew the edges, but washi tape probably would have worked too. Thanks, Jessica!
Response: Oh wow! I've never had that happen before. I've done this so many times before, I didn't think it needed any reinforcement other than the glue. I'm glad that you got both, so that the mystery could be solved and I'm sorry it made it to you in pieces. I think I will start putting washi on the edges just for a little extra insurance. Thanks for the idea!
Response: I don't know whether I am happy or sad to report that we didn't. We missed it by about 4 degrees. The crazy thing about it was that the very next day it was below freezing, just no rain....so no snow. Mixed feelings all things considered. Thanks for the heart.
Comment: Thank you so much for the note. I hope you enjoyed just hanging out on NYE. I was working on SB stuffs. In bed about 1205am lol! I hope your 2018 has started off well! (OOPS! I forgot about the goodies! I left them in the envie when I read the notecard LOL! TYVM!!
Response: I actually enjoyed myself so much more than I expected. I went home RIGHT after midnight and went straight to bed, ha! It started off well and I'm believing that it only gets better from here. I hope the same for you. You're welcome for the goodies. :)
Comment: Thank you so much for the great snowman card and stickers! I have to agree that Christmas planning has gotten a lot more lax for me this past year because my priorities have shifted a bit. Merry Christmas!
Response: I'm still not done...eeek! Thank you and you're welcome.
Comment: Hope your knee is all healed up and doing better. Sometimes those deep cartilage bruises can feel worse than fracturing something. I think I tell you this overtime, but I am in love with your stamps. Those skylab ones are the best!!
Response: Thank you so much. My knee is feeling much better now. I do love the Skylab ones so much that I bought them in sheets. So, you'll probably see them again. :)
Comment: Dear Jessica,
Thank you so much for the postcard! I feel like time flies as well... and soon I am going to leave the US (I hope that is temporary :-() I am so not prepared for the Holiday season as well! Suddenly Christmas is all in the air and it feels so quick! Happy Holidays though :-)
Response: Oh, I hope that you are able to return soon. I'm sorry that you have to go. I hope you can still enjoy the holiday also. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Job interviews are pretty terrible. It's the most awkward situation. I think the only thing I like less is doing the interview, which I've had to do many times. I feel just as awkward, but it would be weird to let the interviewee know that. How did it turn out?
Response: Oh wow! I couldn't imagine giving an interview. I thought that I did horribly, but I got called back for a second interview, so YAY!
Comment: Got the PC in today :) Oh wow 60F would feel so good about now...haha we are hanging around -20F the last few days...but looks like we are going to be coming into some warm weather this coming week :) Thank you for the card and really cool stamps! :)
Response: You're welcome. I hear we are going to be back in the 80s next week!
Comment: Thank you for the great pc. I hate job interviews too I free like your just a number in the hire and fire industries :( ((hugs))
Response: You're welcome! I actually had another interview today...I have to take so much time beforehand trying to keep from being nervous and then more time afterward calming down from being so nervous, ha!
Comment: Thank you so much for the cool postcard! When I was young my girlscout troop was able to participate in the changing of the wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier. I'd love to go back and visit now.
Response: Oh wow, that's pretty cool! That would be a unique experience to be there now. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for swapping with me. All the architecture ones were very cool....the vintage UN building was something else for sure! And my Mom loved the church one you included as well so that one is now hers :)
Response: You're very welcome! Thanks for swapping with me as well. I'm glad there were things I included that were a hit.
Comment: Thank you so much for all the supplies. I especially like the goody bags... I've been taking them all apart and sorting all the treasures. Love all the embellishments, chipboard, double sided tape, doilies, vinyl cuts, stickers, etc. Box full of fun - Thank you!
Response: Wow, that made it to you so quickly! I'm glad you liked it and hope you can make use of it all. :)
Comment: Thank you for the PC. Funny thing, I like pumpkin pie, but I strongly dislike both pumpkin spice and cinnamon - no clue how that works, but I can definitely live without it! Enjoy the fall and the pumpkin spice!
Response: You're very welcome! That is quite a wonder how you dislike the 2 main ingredients in something that you like. Dessert makes everything better I suppose. :)
Comment: I love these old postcards! I miss all the fall colors in Wisconsin. Here in Alaska, it is gold and rust. Pumpkin spice cookies! Yum!!! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Response: I'm so glad you enjoy the vintage postcards. I had a pumpkin donut today! My friend and I are thinking of doing our next vacation in Alaska. I'm sure it has it's own wonderful charm that can't be found in Wisconsin.
Comment: Cool postcard. My costume this year was super simple and cost almost nothing. I borrowed a jacket and hat from my grandpa, suspenders from my brother, and pants from my husband and dressed as a hobo. It's a big hit at work.
Response: I remember when the hobo costume was the big default. Now with the internet there are so many cheap costume ideas to choose from. I'm glad it was a big hit for you. :)
Comment: I haven't dressed up for Halloween in 15 years or so... I don't even remember. If I had kids, I think I would. Is that a good enough reason to adopt a child?
Response: It's been probably at least 10 years since the last time I dressed up for Halloween, but I very much enjoyed myself. I would not go so far as to say that's a good enough reason to adopt, ha! But, maybe find an event going on not too far from you that you wouldn't mind attending in costume.
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful card! I think I'd die if I went to Florida. I hate high humidity (had to deal with 100% humidity every summer most of my life) and my allergies would make life miserable. One of my sisters lives down there and has confirmed visiting her would me terrible. I think it's funny that you live closer to your parents than you do your workplace though.
Response: You're very welcome! The humidity is actually pretty tolerable at the moment. It has calmed down for the beginning of winter. My allergies do go crazy every now and then, but that is what zyrtec is for, ha! But, you know yourself well enough to know what would ail you. So, go with that intuition. My town is really large and it takes at least 20 minutes to get almost anywhere. I do like that I live so close to my parents though.
Comment: thx for the lovely postcard. and about your question, I would re-rate them because some people have busy lives and not a lot of time.
Response: You're welcome! That is a very generous perspective. Usually when I get busy I just sign up for less swaps or take a break from swapping altogether, because if I can't commit to doing something I wouldn't want to affect the other people involved. But, I have been told a lot in the past few years that not everyone thinks like me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Comment: Loved the postcard! I'm glad to hear you made it through Irma safely, hoping recovery for all happens as quickly as possible and everyone can rebound from the devastation and go back to "normal" life.
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you. The city has said that all of the debris should be clear by November 9th, which is just so crazy to think how long it takes just to clean debris let alone everything else.
Comment: As the song goes, you're simply the best! I wonder which SAB students played The Prince and Marie in this shot... and whether they're now full-fledged NYCB members :) I've been wishing I could attend the Here and Now Festival, but I have been grateful for the glimpses offered on Instagram and Facebook. (One day I will have a subscription to NYCB! :) I also hope we swap more often in the near future, friend!
Response: Thank you! That is an interesting thought. I hope they made it and hopefully you will have your subscription one day soon. Always a pleasure my friend!
Comment: Love this postcard. We went skinny dipping last year. We went to the river to our favorite swim hole, and went during the week so we thought nobody would be there. About 10 minutes in, 2 car loads of people showed up....so we went looking for our clothes quickly. Not that I mind being Naked in front of people but it probably would of terrified them. :D Thank you.
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! That sounds like something out of an episode of a comedy show, ha! You're welcome ;)
Comment: First, hearts to you for the vintage stamps! Yep, I noticed. :) Second, I had to look at them twice after reading your note to figure out what had been hand drawn! You must be an artist. I thought they were storebought. :) Very nicely done!
Response: I love using vintage stamps...once I realized it was still an option I decided to never go back to the new ones if I didn't have to, ha! I took drawing classes in school, but that was well over a decade ago. So, I'm very rusty. But, I'm so glad that you thought they were well done. Now I wish I would have thought to take a picture before sending, ha!
Comment: Thank you for yet another stunning New York *and* ballet-related card (!!!), Jessica, and lovely vintage stamps :D I have also missed sending to/receiving from you the last few weeks/months. My condolences to you, your family, and your cousin's family. I hope one day we can live in a truly peace-filled world ♥
Response: You're so very welcome! Thank you for the kind words. The funeral is in a few hours.
Comment: Thanks so much for the lovely ATC and the incredible extras! I am much the same and have a difficult time throwing away any paper, thus I have a large stash myself. I really loved how you used yours to create such a beautiful ATC!!!
Response: You're very welcome! Thanks! I'm so glad you liked everything.
Comment: Thank you for the really awesome sticker slapped ATCs You definitely did more than just slap some stickers on them! I love them. And thanks so much for the extra goodies too!
Response: I thought it would be fun to try some sticker slapped ATCs since all of the ATC swaps forbid doing them and once I tried to get started I realized I had no idea what one would look like, ha! I'm so glad you liked it!
Comment: Thanks for the neat train PC and the awesome stamps on the back! I've never seen these before, I love them! :D Tampa is right there. 15 minutes and you're in it, unless traffic is awful. If people asked where I was from and they did not live in a nearby area, my response would be Tampa, and yes, I frequent it often enough. :) Is Jacksonville really only 3 hrs? I've tripped to Fernandina and that felt like 4... granted it is north of you. :)
Response: You're welcome! I'm glad they were some stamps new to you. Fernandina is another 45 minutes away with good traffic, so I could see that taking 4 hours for you. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Thanks Jessica for postcard with the awesome stamps. Love the stickers u chose. Took f
Me a sec to figure out where it came from (u forgot ur user name but I figured it out) love the lighthouse postcard too. Thanks.
Comment: Hi Jessica! Thanks for the great vintage pc - a beach scene at that - whoop, whoop! Two funny about the 25 year olds talking about "old people" - the thing is, if we are lucky we all get there! LOL! Did you like the new flavors of the candy? They sound interesting! Hug and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: You're welcome! I thought the candy tasted fine...not at all to be compared to the originals, but most everyone else in my group did not like it.
Comment: Would you believe this just arrived today with a 3/7 postmark?!? Thank you for sharing it with me, you were right, it's beautiful and I love it!
Response: OMG! That's crazy! I know mail has been a bit slow lately, but that's a bit much. I wonder if it got tucked in somewhere and found after some time passed. I did hear that there was a huge pool of people retiring from the post office this year, because their was a massive hiring spree 30 years ago. Maybe that is putting them behind. I'm so glad it made it to you though.
Comment: Thank you so much, Jessica! The postcards arrived today and are really interesting ones. Thanks also for the two extra ones.
I hope you've received the stamps I sent you. They were mailed on the 11th.
Response: You're welcome! Thanks for swapping with me. You should have received my rating, but I'll double check to make sure it sent.
Comment: Great PC ! I know the feeling about the standing versus sitting aspects of jobs ! I went from a dream job as a costume maker to a 8 hhour faced paced standing and moving job ! just about wiped out for the first week ! I guess being almost 60 at the time did not Help !
Response: Wow, it definitely sounds like that was hectic. Hope you've adjusted well!
Comment: At first I thought the postcard said a mombat in time of course I thought that was funny then I read it again my favorite animated movie was probably the Seven Dwarfs or Snow White my dad was anti Disney so we didn't get to watch that many thanks for the great postcard love the stamps
Response: Ha ha! Well, that shows how sloppy my handwriting is getting. Those are both good ones. You're welcome!
Comment: Hi Jessica! Thank you so much for your postcard. I love the beautiful Pennsylvanian nature and flowers. I also loved hearing about your better lunch choices! I love cooking and have been trying to do the same thing too, making healthier meals for me and my partner :)
Response: You're welcome! I used to do a lot better with staying away from prepackaged things. I'm happy to be getting back on the right track. Glad you're able to do the same.
Comment: Thank you! And good luck with your diet! Halo Top ice cream is pretty awesome if you have a sweet tooth. I like the peanut butter cup variety.
Response: You know, I have seen the ads for that ice cream on different web sites, but have never tried it. Lord knows I have a sweet tooth, ha! I'll have to see if they have it where I shop. Thank you!
Comment: Thank you! Believe it or not, The Little Mermaid was always one of my favorites as well. I remember that it went into the vault before I was able to buy it on VHS. I tried so hard to get friends to sell me their copy, but they wouldn't. I had to wait until it was released on DVD when I was in high school.
Response: You're welcome! I couldn't find it until I was an adult. Luckily my best friend who lived next door had a copy, so I could watch it pretty much any time I wanted...which was all the time, ha!
Comment: Thanks so much -- I love the card! However, I may have to send it to my older daughter, who is the biggest coffee addict in the family. She has just moved into a new office, and I can see this posted on her bulletin board! thanks again, and happy swapping!
Comment: Jessica! Thank you for swapping postage with me again! I love the PCs you sent and they will truly come in handy with a series I hope to stay in for 26 cards! It's always a pleasure! Peace ~ Patty
Comment: Thank you for the card and note. I have never did Zumba but have watched it. What I do is water tone exercises. Getting much better at going since I switched to the 9:45am class.
Response: That sounds interesting. It's hard for me to get motivated to work out after work, but luckily I have a friend who goes with me. That really helps. Otherwise in the morning before work would probably be my ideal.
Comment: I, too, love the old black and white photo cards- they are always so interesting. The one you sent must be an inn or restaurant at the tope of the mountain as I can see the line that goes up to it for some type of transit to the building. . . very interesting. Thanks so much and have a wonderful weekend ~~
Comment: We just filed our taxes Tuesday. We have a couple of entities that don't get their paperwork out until end of Feb. I hope you get them done! Thanks for the PC! I would love a Lobster about now!
Response: Well, I started my taxes on Thursday only to realize we were missing one of my husband's forms. He took care of it though. So, I'll be finishing them this weekend...finally.
Comment: What a beautiful PC of the mountain lion and her cub. When I used to hike out in California we would hear them if we were getting to close to their dens -- very scary and we immediately high-tailed it down the mountain. My niece goes to zumba classes 4 times a week and loves it. . . hopefully you'll get to the point to make it through a whole class soon :-) Thanks again for the beautiful PC . . . and keep on zumba'ing ~~
Response: Oh wow, that is really scary! I don't know if I could keep hiking in the mountains after that. I do really like the class. I make it through every time....just not gracefully, ha!
Comment: Thank you for the postcard! I LOVE Zumba too! I bought a pass to go at a studio downtown, but haven't been since last summer. Once the weather is nice and I can walk there again, I'll go back! Can't wait!
Response: I really like that the studio I found does by the class, so I can just drop in when I want.
Comment: Very cool idea for the postcard you made! I love your use of the bird postage stamps :) It's funny you mention the library. I recently moved and the first thing I checked out in town was the library! It's fun to see what all they have - but mostly I look at the movies. Thanks again!
Response: Thank you! That is funny. I even check out libraries when I'm vacationing in new towns just to see if they are any good, ha!
Comment: Thanks for the awesome postcard 😋 I love good black and white photography. It always looks amazing. Those mountains make me wish it was cooler here. 85 degrees in March is just too hot and yesterday was 89. 😒
Response: Ha! I don't mind the heat so much. Once it breaks 100 is when I feel like the sun has gone too far. :)
Comment: Hi Jessica! Love the vintage pc and I really need to take a trip to Shedd Aquarium, I have heard it is amazing! We are about six hours from there, so may need to take a road trip! LOL! How awesome about your Grandfather! Wishing him a safe and happy trip!! Will he be staying for long? Lots of adventures planned? Enjoy your family time! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Six hours is definitely close enough for a road trip. Hope you make it out there soon. Thank you for the well wishes. He'll be here for about a month...so plenty of time to enjoy himself. He'll be here in a few days. My parents are taking him to Orlando for a week of it. So, I'm sure they'll have lots of fun.
Comment: Jessica , thank you for the postcard. I love to go to the ceramic studio paint and wine. I also will not drink wine. I rarely do and I am driving so I load up on snacks to take with me for everyone. Shirley
Response: You're welcome! I know there are multiple paint studios here, but I wonder if there is a ceramic one here. That would be fun too.
Comment: Thank you! During the winter we keep our thermostat set at 63 during the night and 65 during the day. We basically live in our hoodies. :) During the summer, we are usually burning up in the house. We live in the desert and use an evaporative cooler, not an air conditioner. It's not quite as effective, but it much more economical!
Response: Oh my goodness! I have to put my warm robe on once it drops to 75 in my house. I would freeze in yours, ha! There are some unbearable days during the summer here in Florida; all the days if you ask my husband. :) We try to open the windows and doors until we're forced to turn on the a.c. I've never heard of an evaporated cooler....might have to look into that.
Comment: Belated thank you for the cool vintage view of Aarhus Cathedral -- I would love to visit Denmark one day! -- and holly berry postage (one of my favorites from childhood :) The mixed-color gel pen also reminded me of my favorite Milky Way pens in middle school. Glad you enjoyed your husband's Christmas present :) I was hoping to snag one of those rare Nintendo "mini" systems that has a catalogue of the classic games. I would also love a wii or X-Box Kinect, if only to play all of the dance- and Zumba-related games :)
Response: Denmark does look lovely! I'm sure it would make a wonderful trip. I remember getting gel pens when I was in grade school, along with the black lined paper. I thought it was the coolest thing. :) Our Wii stopped working a little while ago. No idea why....just a random thing. I liked a couple of the exercise games, but never tried the dance and Zumba ones. I actually found a studio by work this week and tried out their Zumba class. I had a good time.
Comment: 1. You always have the coolest ballet postcards, squee!! (and pretty vintage stamps :)
2. I never tire of your beautiful, font-like writing.
3. I do like cool weather, but not so cold that it becomes life-threatening. Hope you are enjoying more moderate temperatures today, friend!
Response: 1. I'm going to be sad when I run out of one's to send you, ha! 2. I'm still surprised you like my handwriting so much. I've been complaining how downhill it's gone over the years. 3. Compared to the level of cold most people deal with I'm a total baby. I'm one of the only people I know who has run the car heater in the summer. :) Thank you for the well wishes!
Comment: Hi Jessica! I wasn't sure which swap your pc was for and looked again & saw the bird - yippee! LOL! I keep overlooking him for the castle! So has your hubby said anything about Valentine's Day? We had our "date" on Saturday, which turned out to be tons of fun! On Valentine's Day I want to have Papa Murphy's heart shaped pizza and watch my shows! LOL! Like my hubby said, we already know who our sweethearts are! LOL! Hope you have a fun Valentine's Day! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: The little peacock does get overshadowed by the lovely castle, ha! But, he's still elegant. It's funny, because the day after I wrote that postcard he was like, "you know Valentine's day is coming up, right?" Hahaha! We talked about doing the heart shaped pizza and a movie too :) Hope you have a great one!
Comment: I love this PC of our Capitol. . .the tulips and cherry blossoms are always so beautiful in the spring and this PC captures the beauty of all of it so perfectly. Thank you so much for the beautiful PC. I understand completely about going through other's things as I've had to do that 3 times in my life and it is a very trying and sad thing to have to do. I did, however, go through my entire house and got rid of so much stuff that I had for so many years that were just 'here' and I only kept things I truly enjoyed. . . now I have an almost empty 3 story townhouse. . .far less cleaning too :-) Thanks again for the beautiful PC ~~
Response: I'm so glad you liked the postcard. I thought it was really pretty, but you never know what other people will like. I've been going through my house ever since last weekend and even though I've got 2 bags and 3 boxes of things to send to the thrift store I feel like it's not even scratching the surface. Arg.
Comment: I went through the same thing when my Dad and Mom passed. My dad had cancelled checks from the 1980's. Thanks for the PC!
Response: You're welcome! Thankfully this wasn't for a family member, but it was for a friend of the family. I can't lie and say I don't have any paperwork over 15 years old. I do ween it down every so often though.
Comment: â¤Very special PC. Brings up good memories. Thank you! One of my favorite trips was to the Royal Gorge with my grandparents as a child. I'll have to check out "My Crazy Ex" on tv. Hope you are having a great week!
Response: I'm so glad the postcard resonated with you. I'm so surprised at how often someone responds that they had an experience with a card I chose at random. That is pretty cool.
Comment: I get what you're saying about joining millions of swaps. If only postage was free! I try to just stick to postcard swaps unless there is an upcoming holiday... then I go crazy! Happy mail is an addiction!
Response: I usually go all out for Christmas, so I'll probably stick to that one and then just do postcards mostly. It really has become an addiction!
Comment: Fun vintage postage and Valentine's stickers on the envie! Beautiful handmade tiny Valentine's. thanks for the stickers and Valentine's emphera, it was always fun getting a little goodie with the tiny Valentine's at school. Thanks also for the vintage PC s, so very sweet of you! 💖
Response: You're very welcome! I'm so glad you liked everything! To be honest, I don't remember swapping Valentine's as a kid, but I'm sure we must have.
Comment: Hello Jessica, my FL neighbor, and thank you for the postcard view of Neptune Beach, FL. Interesting that Jacksonville has small beach towns considering themselves part of the main city. Since most people haven't heard of Clermont, they do know our city Orlando, so I'll tell people I live NW of the city. Hope you have a good February.
Comment: i can only imagine that show is crazy and yes sadly there are people that have crazy exes and prob some they wont show. it is sad. your handwriting is awesome. its really pretty . we havent gotten a spongebob card yet and know this will be one of my sons fave! thank you
Response: Yeah, it was just super weird what some people would think to do. Thank you...it's funny one of the last cards I wrote was complaining about how downhill my handwriting is going with age. I'm glad you like it. I got that card in a pack of random illustrations. I'm glad I got a chance to use it.
Comment: Hi Jessica! Thanks for the great card. I love the fascinating buildings. That postage increase was a shock to me as well. I did find out in time to stock up on some stamps though. Have a great weekend. Jan
Response: You're welcome! That's great that you got a chance to stock up. :)
Comment: Thank you for the cheery vintage Dutch postcard, beautiful vintage stamps (especially the New Orleans steamboat :), and your message! Was your family binge-watching Crazy-Ex Girlfriend or just watching one episode? When the series first premiered in fall 2015, I was confused and turned off by the title and subway ads featuring Ms. Bloom with an incredulous/angry/etc. facial expression, but I'd known that it was a musical theatre-based show and finally gave in
