Comment: Thanks for sharing your bird pictures with me. One of the things I've enjoyed about this swap has been the chance to see birds unfamiliar to me -- I had never seen a red-winged blackbird. I was interested that it was using the suet feeder -- we have blackbirds but they only ground feed, they never attempt any of the hanging feeders. And I enjoyed seeing the pileated woodpecker -- we have a green woodpecker that visits our feeders. Britain only has 3 species of woodpecker. Thanks for being part of the swap -- I do think birds are challenging to photograph!!

We don't have a wide range of wildlife in the UK, or rather we don't have a lot of wildlife that is easy to photograph and much as I would like to be a wildlife photographer I have no patience so it's probably not something I'd be suited to. Zoos and conservation projects are something I enjoy. We have a few conservation projects that help to fund their work with photography days which I love to go on. I love your zoo pics. πΊ

I love your pictures! They are a perfect example of the strengths of black and white. I love the way that changing them to monochrome has allowed the viewer to focus on texture and shape without the distraction of colour.
I particularly like the jellyfish and the milkweed -- both of which are interesting enough to be worth enlarging and printing and hanging on the wall! But I like the others too. Thanks for sharing.

Comment: Thank you! I love snow, so I loved your snowy pictures. I remember we had this much snow sometimes when I was a child, but not anymore :( It's so cute that pheasants came to visit you. You rarely see them here and they're mostly in the forest, they don't usually come to bird feeders because they find enough in the forest.

Comment: I really enjoyed looking at your pictures and the different views of Cooper. I think of the two close-ups I prefer the one without the window trim, but it's obviously a matter of personal taste!
There's so much lovely texture and shading in Cooper's coat that I wonder if it's worth experimenting with some even more close-up pictures, ones that move into the abstract. I tried that with a goose and was really pleased with the patterns the close-up of the feathers created. Thanks for joining the swap!

Response: What a wonderful comment! Thank you! Yes, the fire happened a few years ago and took out our hobby shed, playhouse, 15 trees, car, and more. It was pretty bad. Seeing the artwork that my daughters had done burned in the fire was incredibly sad. Lots of memories with that, things from my parents, antiques, etc. - all gone. Anyway...this was such a great swap. I hope you will another version of it in the future!

It started in 2000 after my grandpa died and it was something we do on mothers day. We invite close friends (more like adopted family) who's children are not close, to spend the day with us. I'm glad we started it, since we have lost a few ladies in these 18 years, and those memories our so important

I'm sure some day you will choose one of those "working vacations" [to use an oxymoron] where you go on an archeological dig. Comment: That is quite an amazing list! Though my family doesn't celebrate as long or alot of the same things, I got plenty of ideas that we could incorporate this year and past x-mas. My favorite I think is the sheet fort and the christmas reading. Or and the picnic in fron of the tree. They're easy and simple ideas, but they hold so much warmth in them. I love it! Response: They did. I glued the paper to the cardboard to make the book, and stapled the pages in for them. They picked out the paper for the book, the envelopes, and then decorated the books themselves. They were so happy with what they created, and want to make more books.
