Response: Thanks for the kindness in not rating me down. There's a saying I like: "Everyone you meet has a struggle you know nothing about. Be kind."
Response: July 31 is such a good day, isn't it?!?!
Response: Very cool trip you made with your boyfriend. I've been to all the places you mentioned, although I lived south of there in Tucson. Isn't the Hoover Dam awesome? I hope you watched the movie of how it was built. Amazing.
Response: I'm sorry about not putting my name on it--it's one of my favorite pet peeves when people do that to me. Sorry!
Response: I love Auden's poetry, most of it. And this is a favorite, something I think I want read at my memorial service. And then I want them to change the mood and play Leonard Cohen's "Closing Time."
Response: Remind me what one-liner I sent you. I think I remember sending two...? I had something else picked out, then couldn't find it, which is why now I do not remember.
Response: Oooh, I loved Homicide! Haven't seen Wire, but if it's anywhere as good as Homicide...
Response: Yes, they did. Isn't that awful!?
Response: Yes, read The Help, is one of the best books written in a long time.
Response: Yes, do check out The Kite Runner, and also his second book, Splendor of a Thousand Suns. Both are excellent.
Response: Leonard Cohen is one of my favorite songwriters and singers. I love all his music, his poetry, but these lines speak of acceptance of all of life's offerings. Beautiful sentiment. And I LOVE that you sent it out, too. How amazing is that! Even more astonishing, though, is that redgirl12 just rated me and said how amazing that she got TWO postcards with these same lyrics. So you and I also sent to the same person!!!!
Response: The other person who sent them to you happened to be one of my other partners. I sent these lyrics to her, the same that she sent to you!!!! Small world sometimes! What does this mean?!?!?1
Response: I had a dirty mind, too, when I saw this. It actually started on Facebook, where I saw all these women posting sentences like, "I like it on the bench by the door," or "I like it in the sunroom." And these were all women who wouldn't post "porn." So I finally asked. They were trying to start a movement that would catch media attention. It was to support breast cancer survivors, and the "Question" was, "Where do you like to put your purse when you come in?" Thanks for being curious and for asking.
Response: I just have to hope it was something calming...!
Response: I'm sorry I sent you butterflies! I'm buried in work right now and should have read more carefully. You really don't like butterflies? Sorry! I thought the card would be a gift, was so beautiful to me!
Response: Me, too! Let's change the world and make those people with outside dogs, trade places for a week!
Response: I'm a former teacher, too, and love my editing job at Carson-Dellosa. Did you ever have ouir things in your classroom?
Response: My PO box is 155, zip is 27359. I used to date a postal person and he taught me this time-saving trick. Can only be done with POBs.
Response: So weird that it wasn't postmarked! Wonder how often that happens. No wonder the USPS is in trouble!
Response: I don't remember which I sent you but don't have many music PCs. Which was it? Did I send it to you twice? Or just one you got twice from 2 people? I've had that happen, too, sometimes even getting PCs I've sent!
Response: So glad you feel like that. Some have lost faith, but man, what a mess he came into!
Response: Thanks! I love them so much....!
Response: Thanks! Me, too!
Response: It may have been my computer, altho I haven't been able to pull up anyone's profile, not even my own, until this weekend. Weird, but so glad you liked what I sent. Have a good week!
Response: Sorry to hear about the surgery but hope it worked out well and that you're back to feeling 100% soon! Happy Holidays!
Response: Oh, there are some good ones out there...and i'm glad if you got one!
Response: Me, too! Thanks for making me laugh!
Response: I'd love to have heard him speak or to have dinner with him. He is so funny and smart-alecky sometimes, but also very wise and intelligent. One of my favorites.
Response: I'm sorry you've been sick. The flu? Hope you're feeling way better now and stay that way.
Response: Oh, you're funny! It makes me laugh, too...but not always because it's too REAL!
Response: Thanks for the kind words and the heart! It's good to be affirmed, pen in hand, because it's such precarious work trying to draw something yourself! Never sure what's going to show up!
Response: Thanks for the heart and nice rating!
Response: I tried to put together an interesting assortment so thanks for appreciating!
Response: Oh, I'm glad. Not everybody would appreciate it but I thought from your profile that you would. Me, too!
Response: Glad the timing was good. If you're needing an anonymous shoulder, email me at
[email protected]. Otherwise, be good to you and the rest will follow. Sometime. XOXO
Response: You're welcome. I'm one of those people that needs that bumper sticker that reads "I brake for small animals." I do.
Response: What kind of private swap did you have in mind? I always get such good ones from you, too.
Response: I hope you can get there. In my opinion, it's easily one of the most beautiful places in the world. And it's not far from all the other southern Utah parks (Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce, Zion), so take 2 weeks! Wonderful area!
Response: Were you the mule that carried him or were you the mule that had to be pushed?!?!?!
Response: I think it's out in 3D starting this weekend for the next 2 weeks ONLY. Run!
Response: I love him, too! Did you see him on Letterman the other night? Whatta guy!
Response: I'm so glad the Obama PC got a good home. I love the guy, was hoping his PC would be appreciated. Thanks for rating.
Response: I don't know that I have any others from there, sorry. But I do love the area so much. If I run across some, I'll let you know.
Response: Hope this isn't a totally ignorant question: What's a DIL#2?
Response: Yes, I was worried you might be a Sun Devil fan! I'm VERY glad you're not....
Response: You're welcome! I loved making them. The shabby-chic looking one was a mistake turned good, a process that didn't turn out and when I ripped the stuff off the top (including lace) that's what was underneath, complete with facial features I did not put in there. Maybe you can sell it on eBay as a genuine miracle! ;-)
Response: I'm a Democrat, too, and didn't even think about it being the GOP elephant when I made it, was thinking, how cool, a red white and blue elephant!!!! My husband saw it and raised his eyebrows. Must have been a "stroke day." Glad you enjoyed it anyway!!!
Response: Thank you for the quick rating and especially for the heart!
Response: Yes, it is a lot of work and because almost all Leonard's work with pointilism, he later used a repeating pen for some of the more complicated pieces! Don't know if that's cheating or not but it'd be the only way I could keep at it!
Response: You have a new one on the way, since the first one got "lost." Enjoy!
Response: Gracias! Yo espero que escribimos al cado mas veces.
Response: I had fun, thanks for the kudos! Now I have to visit sometime, looks like such an interesting city.
Response: It is really hot there. You don't go anywhere without a water bottle...and whenever you can be in A/C, you do it! But SO beautiful, it's worth it (to me).
Response: It's fun hosting, isn't it? Thanks for setting this up, was fun. BTW, I hope you still have your Mustangs? Such classics today.
Response: Sorry about the unexpected heart shower! Hope your birthday was otherwise perfect!
Response: That's a great memory and I've heard bears especially love sweets. Wonder if the caffeine made it more energetic!!!!
Response: Unless you're still in diapers, yeah, it's time to go back! :-)
Response: It's so nice the card made an impact. That's what makes this so much fun, receiving things that are memorable and fun. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Response: Send your musical mice to me--I was totally charmed by the one that listened to me play piano!
Response: Yes, it was mine. Sorry I didn't sign (brain burp!) but I so appreciate the trouble you went to to find me and rate me anyway. Thanks so much!
Response: Yeah, I especially like that i don't have to match my shoes and purse anymore...but I often do!!! Thanks for the rating and heart.
Response: Thanks for the great comment and the heart!
Response: I will definitely join, closer to the time (because my dance card's been kinda full!). I love the art card swaps!
Response: Thanks, glad you liked it. And A IS for Autism in my world, so it was also a sort of memoir.
Response: Good thought! Can't you just see them bolting into forest cover with you on behind...!
Response: You're welcome. Thanks also for yours...and reading the back of yours, I realized that I, the host of the swap, forgot part of the assignment. For a child's verse, I would've put in a favorite, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star...." I've been wishing on twinkling stars since a kid.
Response: You're very welcome and thanks for the kudos and the heart. It's a big heart, it's all good!
Response: Thanks for that Mark Twain quote, new to me. And I, too, hope to go to dog heaven when I die!
Response: I'd like to let them go, too, and feel more loving to my mother before she dies. She's 80. I agree I shouldn't tag my opinion of myself to hers....easier said than done but we're here to work, aren't we? Thanks for reading and for responding.
Response: So sorry, I was probably viewing them here...while you were looking for him there....!
Response: Thanks for "listening!" I think that the best thing to do is what your mother is doing--"acceptance" of what can never be. If you have kids, you'll know what not to do. Be what you want to get.
Response: Thanks for commenting on this "tender" subject. I haven't had kids (am 57, won't be) but I always worried if I did, that I would be the same. I'm glad to hear you have worked not to continue the cycle with your own child. Good-o you!
Response: I was in 1st until UConn lost, but finally tied for 3rd place...got my $5 back! Congrats on your win, too!
Response: And thank you for being so understanding and generous about my mistake. I love that you gave me a heart anyway.
Response: Oh, thanks for telling me that. I should read more about Chagall, have always like the whimsey and symbology of his paintings. You inspire me to research his art. So many artists, so little time....
Response: It is not fair for you to rate me a 1 without contacting me. You contacted me at 6 days about this postcard and I told you then I had sent it. Please remove this rating and give me a chance to send a second postcard!
Response: Oh, thanks for telling me so, makes my day!
Response: Go, go, go! It's so beautiful and especially so in the spring. It's like the desert died, then totally revives in spring. So much beautiful color. But oh, I'm homesick again.......
Response: Thanks for that, never heard it of ravens. As I just saw an owl on a fencepost last week, I will choose to believe in the raven.
Response: A Prayer for Owen Meany is by John Irving, out in 1989. He's the same guy who wrote The World According to Garp and lots of others. O Meany is his best. It was made into a horrible movie (Simon Birch) but the book is so good I read it every other year or so. Hope you like it!
Response: F. Jay Haynes, the famous Yellowstone photographer, also had a studio where he sold his prints. In order to sell more, he sometimes tinted them to give his customers choices and temptations! Thanks for being interested.
Response: Yup, great minds....glad you liked the PC, thought it was perfect for a book thought (which are always my favorite thoughts!).
Response: Ohhhhhhhh, I am so jealous. You're going to my favorite part of the world, have been several times when I lived in Arizona. I am so homesick for those beautiful rocks. Be sure, in Bryce, to look out from Inspiration Point. It's where I want to be sprinkled when it's that time. Soooo beautiful.
Response: Don't you just have to wonder who did it first, and how it spread and held over years?!?!?!? People have always smashed wedding cake as long as I've been going to weddings...and I'm 57! Funny. Thanks for enjoying the concept.
Response: Oh, you're so lucky! Barcelona seems such a lovely city with many things to do. I SO hope to visit it.
Response: Oh, do it! It was one of the best months of my life. I saw so much beauty and had so much fun. Just take a map and pick up visitor center brochures to find the odd thing you never knew was out there, like Mark Twain's little cabin in the woods where he wrote known literature. And the hike with strangers down a trail in Yosemite. And the man who said, "That's not seals, that's traffic." (They were seals!) Go do it!
Response: How'd you stop worrying? I went through a patch where I was worried about going bald (have thick hair, go figure!) and even dreamed it!
Response: I know, I got an extra one because I knew I'd have trouble sending if I only had one! It is definitely an "awwwww" photo. Thanks, Chris
Response: I know, most of his better known paintings are full of the most marvelous scriggles and doodles. These paintings really interested me for that reason, that the style is lesser known of him. Glad you enjoyed it, too.
Response: Oh, you're so welcome. The beagle puppies were cute, too; maybe they'll show up some day. I once had something come to me after 6 months; maybe it went by pony......
Response: We live in North Carolina now, but rescued a number of birds by the road in Arizona. There are wooded areas all over and lots of box turtles up to a foot across. They hiss at you when you pick them up! (We don't care, we don't want them squooshed.) So glad you rescue precious pets, too. Hug ya back, Chris
Response: Oooh, a new place to discover. What/where is Seagrove?
Response: What a funny question, made me laugh! No, I do not think it's their pet. I think it's the next pot roast...!
Response: I got really nice responses for my strange interpretation of your vocabulary postcard challenge, so I'm glad you liked it. BTW, I've now received all mine, really really enjoyed this swap. Thank you for thinking it up and I hope you'll do it again.
Response: Thank you for your comments. And thanks also for putting a tracking sheet in the front of the book for me. This is new to me, so can you tell me what you used and did you glue it down? I want to do this again. Thanks, Chris
Response: It should have been written across the bottom...but I'm brand new to this and also have the memory of a duck! Thanks for reminding me. I've received my first swaps and I can see how important that info is. Happy Turkey Day!
