Comment: Matt, thanks for the card and quote from Walt. I really like the postcard, it gave me a chuckle :) postcards of awkward Americana sound like fun! I hope you are well, and have a happy Thanksgiving! -- RJ
Comment: Thank you for the great card of Commander David Scott on the moon. I loved everything about the space program especially after I met Dr Von Braun when we lived in Huntsville, AL when I was 14 in 1961. He came to my school and told us all about the rocket he was developing for the moon launch.
Comment: Thanks for the great PC and the quote.
The Turboliners never, as far as I know, operated on the Northeast Corridor so I never rode one. It wasn't until after 2000 that I travelled by rail in the midwest and they were all gone by then.
Comment: Great PC, Thanks.
Whenever I'm asked to "rate the pain on a scale of one to ten." I always tell them that I have never broken a bone or given birth to a child. That usually evokes a chuckle or a strange look as I am a male.
Comment: Blank card with no message or explanation of the history. |Card not signed with any name. I have to say it was a disappointing swap. First blank card I've received from any of my swap bot partners.
Comment: Thanks for the vintage Orlando PC Matt! I'm actually from the Chicago area originally, so I keep hearing complaints from friends and about the snow, haha! Seems like it starts earlier every year.
Comment: Thanks for the Chicago skyline postcard featuring (what I'd still call) the Sears Tower. Maybe buildings, like sports stadiums and arenas can have naming rights purchased these days? lol take care!
Comment: I just got this cool black and white NY pc today. I realized this swap is from November 2017 WOW...I can't believe it arrived after all this time. For sure got lost in the way since USA-Mexico mail arrives within 6 weeks at the most. Thank you so much! Sad we will never know the adventures of your postcard!
Comment: Love the PC! I have relatives there and have visited several times and lived there for a few months back in the 80's! Never had to live through a winter, don't think I would have survived! Thank you!
Comment: This was 2 month's late. My address was correct. Post card is nice. I have been late and rated badly for it. A message would have been appreciated it. I'm on watch for your other swaps, but will discontinue. it's disappointing and don't want to continue with this.
Comment: Thank you so much for the wonderful Chicago PC! We really enjoyed our visit there. I even left part of myself there. I tripped on the uneven sidewalk stones around John Hancock tower and left some of my arm and shoulder there. So graceful. LOL!
Comment: Hi, Matt! Can you tell me more about the postcard you sent? It has lots of, what looks like, swapbot names and it indicates there was a Postcrossing event in May. I'm part of Postcrossing as well and did not know about that event. :)
Comment: thank you, for the card. I got to spend only one night in chicago a few years ago and i spent the day at the art institute, its a great museum. Its 46 degrees here tonight, but I know that seems super warm compared to there! stay warm over there!
Comment: I got your card....you didn't put your swap-bot name, so I'm guessing it was from you. I'm not sure, because it was mailed on Nov. 5th and this swap ended on Sept. 26th, so please let me know if I am wrong.
Comment: Thank you for your postcard. and your comment "here's your postcard, please rerate." I did.... update 10/27 WOW! I appreciate you wanting to make things right but my gods you went overboard. Thank you for the cards. Many blessings.
Comment: Matt, thank you for the postcard of Chicago. I lived outside of the city in a small town called Woodridge. Only stayed for 2 1/2 years. Didn't like the weather although MA wasn't any better. NC is much better, not much snow. Shirley
Comment: I'm actually one of the half dozen people who hates Star Wars! :) And it was so intensely Star Wars-y. It works just fine though because I like anything post office and stamps related. Thank you.
Comment: What a cool postcard! Long live 80's Rock! And definitely go for grad school...too few good people willing to take on the school councilor role these days. Thanks for the facts and the neat PC
Comment: I love Hawaii. I haven't been to Oahu but I have been to the Big Island and Maui. Thank you for hosting!
For the ratings checking nazis: this swap was postmarked August 28, well before the last day to send!
Comment: i LOVE that little slice of metal,
thanks for gifting me the little keepsake of pretty views
- it's generous of you to share great vacation memories with a
souvenir for an envious swapbotter
~ so very appreciated!
the rest of summer!
Comment: Thank you so much for the Chicago PC. We were there about 4 years ago and we really enjoyed our visit. My biggest surprise was the number of people who walk there. Southerners are lazy. You might have one or two people waiting to cross at the corner here, not fifty plus like we saw there. While we were there I fell on the sidewalk outside the Hancock Tower so rather than my heart, I left some of my hide in Chicago. LOL!
Comment: Thank you!
I'm sorry that I had to rate you a 3 because the swap was late. Next time, just communicate that the swap will be late!
Edit: Matt did send a sincere apology for the late send. Changed the rating to a 5.
Comment: Thanks! I find it very cool that you used a Rhode Island postage stamp on this card. I'm in Rhode Island and I've NEVER seen that stamp. I will definetly have to ask the post office for that one. Thanks again and keep studying hard!
Comment: Thanks for the fun postcard. My daughter is trying to open it...she thinks it's an envelope, as she's gotten birthday cards in the past week...and I've been having her open her own mail now that she's able to.
Comment: 7 Feb 2017: Did not receive anything, will re-rate if I do. Sent a message 4 Feb which is currently (7 Feb) still unread. 23 Feb 2017: received a postcard postmarked 02 Feb 2017, so apparently not the mentioned re-send but the original thing. I'll assume that it was indeed posted on 12 Jan 2017 and merely spent three weeks in the innards of the US Postal Service before being postmarked and sent out.
Comment: Thank you, thank you for the wonderful Episode VII card and Lucille Ball postage (I recently started watching I Love Lucy re-runs and remembered why this was my first "adult"/non-kids' show as a child :), Matt! I am looking forward to The Lost Jedi as well, although I can't say that I want time to rush; I still get surprised how fast time flies when a film that I have been anticipating for years is ready to open :)
Comment: This card came in way late... this did not meet the requirement of the deadline. Also no email to me so I contacted you an never got an email back. Im leaving this a 5 because I don't have clear proof of when you sent it nor was there a postmark on the PC so I can't fairly say that you sent it late, however you did hit send after the deadline.
Comment: Thank you for the lovely postcad. The weather isnot sure what it wants to do. Since before Christmas it has been 80 degrees. Today its about 60 and I am freezing lol. I hope your staying warm.
Comment: Thank you for the adorable, cheerful elf card that reminds me of David the Gnome, a childhood favorite, and features one of my favorite fonts, Edwardian Script :) I also really like the Holiday Windows stamps. Happy Rogue One week!
Comment: I got 2 Big Swap 13 postcards from you, so I'm assuming one of them was supposed to be for Big Swap 14? Thanks either way.
Update: Got a card for 14, so I guess it was just 2 for 13. Love this comic book cover one.
Comment: Matt , I love receiving postcards from u bc it's like u know what will make me smile. :)😀😀. Thank u so much for a cool Star Wars card and awesome stamp. May the force be with you! Cheers.
Comment: Belated thank you for the Trade Federation card, Louisiana vintage postcard-style stamp, and kind greetings, Matt! (I found your card while cleaning the living room just now; it was underneath a magazine on the coffee table. I will have to gently remind my family to give my mail to me when/if they get it before I do.) Hope you have a good week! ♥
Comment: Thank you for the excellent Mace Windu card and lovely Lucille Ball stamp, Matt! I sometimes wish Samuel L. Jackson had whooped Ian McDarmid/Palpatine in Episode III, heheh. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Comment: Hi Matt! What a fantastic Cardinal card! I collect Cardinals as they were my now deceased friend's favorite bird. She always said when we see a Cardinal we know she is checking up on us. So thank you so much! And of course the Wisconsin stamp rocks! Isn't it great some of those oldies now can be used as postcard stamps? Happy Swapping!
Comment: Matt, thank you for the postcards and of course the first one you sent by mistake. The cherry pir postcard recipe sound delicious but my husband is pushing 240 and doesn't need pie or any sweets. Shirley
Comment: Hi Matt, I like the postcard Chicago, and your Spanish is improving a lot, keep it up. Thank you very much.
Hola Matt, me gustó mucho la postal de Chicago, y tu español está mejorando mucho, sigue asÃ. Muchas gracias
Comment: I teach elementary afterschool - creative writing through fairy tales and quilting - I find the younger the students, the more fun I have! Good luck and thanks for the great card - love the kitty!
Comment: Thank you for the excellent Mace Windu and Jedi card -- I always wish he could vanquish Palpatine in Episode III :) -- but you mistakenly made out the message portion to Agape (kayebubbly). Hope you are having a good weekend!
Comment: I'm not going to rate down for it, but in the future, make sure you're fulfilling all the requirements before you mail a swap. This swap was for a non-touristy postcard but you sent one. Also, you were supposed to write your favorite dairy product.
Comment: Hi Matt!
Thank you for the Lake Geneva postcard featuring a beautiful sunset. Enjoyed the Greetings from IL stamp also. It's funny, I am pretty sure I used to have a postcard featuring that very image of Chicago's lakefront.
Comment: Belated thank you for the cool Princess Leia comic card, Matt! I love the colors, and her Hoth outfit/"headband" braid is among my favorite Star Wars costumes :) Happy first day of September (insert Earth, Wind, and Fire :)
Comment: What a cool oversized b&w! My mom and I went to Providence, then Newport, a few years ago. I loved the marker or memorial on a pillar in the Biltmore showing how high floor waters once got. Kind of scary! Cool old hotel with lots of their own memorabilia. Loved their menus with prices in the hallway.
Comment: hi matt :-) thank you very much for the postcard ! i think it s the 3rd postcard from you and i would appreciate to hear something new next time you send a postcard :-) how is it to teach young kids ?
Comment: It's so bizarre how a few of these got lost, I know you're a good swapper, but they just haven't been received.
Update: Again, I'm not sure if I should give a 3 or a 5, because my guess is you forgot to send. But I'm rerating because I received now.
Comment: Another lost one. Did you mail all these the same date?
Sorry, I sent a message as well, but didn't hear a response.
Rerate: I'm giving you a 5, even though I'm not sure if you just didn't send the first time, or it got lost. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.
Comment: Sent a message on 6/14 with a reply that he would re-send. Sent another message on 6/27 and again on 6/29. He replied on 6/30 saying he hadn't re-sent but would but its now 7/13 and I have not received anything. Finally received on 7/18
Response: Honest mistake. Resent. You should receive it shortly. Please revise rating once you receive the postcard.
Comment: Belated thank you for the whimsical Jelly Belly card, Matt! I remember as a kid just loving reading the flavor names and descriptions and marveling at the colors. (My apologies for a late rating; I am still getting caught up after being given a stack of mail that had arrived in late May/early June while I was out of town but had been withheld by a family member.) Happy Wednesday!
Comment: Thank you for the Count Dooku (may Christopher Lee rest in peace) card, Matt! I think one of the most shocking scenes (still) in all of Star Wars filmdom was the beginning of Episode III in which the Count was totally incredulous that Sidious would so casually command Anakin to kill him. Hope you are having a good week!
Comment: (I guess the card took the scenic route coming?) Thank you for the cool Princess Leia card, Matt, and for sharing with me that moment you decided to help shape young minds as a teacher :) Happy weekend!
Comment: Thanks. I appreciate knowing you are a Star Wars fan, but as a long-time swapper, I would suggest you say a little more next time and get a little closer to meeting the swap requirements. Welcome, and happy swapping!
Comment: Thank you for another great Star Wars card (and for sharing with me one of your favorites!) and Battle of New Orleans stamp (also one of my favorites) -- I think as a child, I didn't appreciate Hoth as much as I did revisiting The Empire Strikes back more recently :) Happy Tuesday!
Comment: Matt this is an AWESOME postcard! i looked at it carefully! No, i have not seen the movie Monsters Inc! It is very interesting to observe and carefully look closely! Its on my list to see now! Thanks!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful vintage Saks card (it reminds me of "How the Other Half Lives" from Thoroughly Modern Millie, although she references the Fifth Avenue location :) and for sharing more about yourself -- what great places to live, all of them! Two autumns ago, I loved seeing the gorgeous Connecticut stops when I rode Amtrak down to NYC from Boston. Happy weekend!
Comment: I totally love the postcard. I am a big Tampa Bay Rays fan and attend games regularly. I became obsessed with baseball a few years ago so I am pretty excited about this card. I am travelling to Boston next week. I will be making a clandestine visit to Fenway....but don't tell anybody...I don't want to be barred from the Trop if anyone finds out.
Comment: Hi Matt!
Awesome Star Wars postcard ! Love it! I would read them all too. Looks like some great comic art. Ive been to some comic cons and have met a few of the comic book artists, they are so nice and their talent is crazy!!
